We simplify nature investment, at scale.
About us
We source and manage portfolios of environmental instruments across biodiversity, carbon and water for corporations who want to invest in the preservation and restoration of nature.
The word Skjander is our derivation of the old Norse word Skoldr, which means “shield”. And our goal is exactly that, to protect as much biodiversity as we can by driving private investment into credible, impactful, outcome focused nature and biodiversity protection.
Our story
In 2022, our founders came together to look for ways to drive private investment into nature.
One year later Skjander was established and the team started building our tools and platform, testing the market and identifying and buying different environmental instruments.
In 2024, our pilot portfolio was established and we completed our first investment raise.
In 2025, we’ve started working with corporate clients to help them identify and manage their nature risks.

Why Skjander?
Our team brings together globally recognised expertise at the intersection of ecology, conservation science and high-impact environmental finance. With backgrounds spanning the Australian Government, UNSW, the Australian Wildlife Conservancy, and banks around the world, we’ve led groundbreaking work in biodiversity, sustainable agriculture and natural capital markets. From designing Australia’s first carbon funds to shaping policy and practice around biodiversity offsets, our team has been at the forefront of integrating environmental integrity into investable solutions.
Our team includes a former Macquarie executive who pioneered carbon finance and ETFs for global exchanges; a PhD-holding ecologist who led world-first natural capital research; and an investment expert who scaled agtech and energy ventures globally. Meet the whole team.
